China Balances Record Grain Output with Green Agriculture Transformation

The report, jointly released by the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and the China Agricultural Green Development Research Association, points out that in 2025, China's grain output reached a new historic high, while fertilizer use (for the three main staple crops) decreased for the tenth consecutive year, pesticide use continued to decline, and the comprehensive utilization rate of crop straw remained above 88%. Chen Bangxun, Director of the Development Planning Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, revealed that the "15th Five-Year Plan" has listed the comprehensive green transformation of agriculture as a key direction, and has made the level of agricultural green development one of the 15 main indicators to measure progress from 2026 to 2030.
